About Me:
I'm an artist, photographer writer and Internet Marketer. I am married and have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I live with my wife Janet in a community just north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I attended Columbus College of Art and Design in 1969. I worked as a graphic artist and owned my own photography business in the 70's, after which I was co-owner of Daycare Center between 82 and 93. I also owned a small import / marketing company. Most recently owned a business financing consultation company, which I have now closed to pursue opportunities in Internet Marketing.

Writers all need a way to easily keep track of research, working notes or simply story ideas. I collected information using handwritten notebooks and as well as a disorganized collection notes on scraps of paper. I was often frustrated when I lost some important bit of information in the middle of a project. I'd developed some bad habits over the years and gotten kind of sloppy . There is nothing worse than searching of an obscure quote on an old post-it no… Continue

Helium can Inflate Your Ego

I like to recommend to other members of “The Writing Life” to check out Helium. This is a site which allows writers of every stripe and level of experience to self publish articles, stories poems, across a wide range of topics or “channels”. This is an entirely digital format; there is no means by which to have work printed directly. The site is very a useful place to try out new material polish a specific style or technique. It is also a wonderful forum for… Continue

Hello Marvin,

Thanks for the message.

I have been a hypnotherapist here in the UK for just over 30 years. I became interested in Zen around 1979 when I was introduced to zazen. I have a small knowledge of reiki and it seem quite similar to what we used to do in ki-aikido, a martial art I practised for a few years.

If someone received a minor injury during aikido, we used to "inject" ki (chi) into this area and the results were quite remarkable. The idea of energy is very strong in Ki-aikido (as opposed to just Aikido) and the first half of any session on the mat was dedicated to developing more ki. I once met a Japanese master who's ki was so powerful, that he could push somebody to the mat without touching them. I didn't believe it until he did it to me!

Zazen, which is the basis of Zen practice is also about ki and many Zen masters have very strong ki. I describe the method on my webpage here ayrehypnotherapy.com/breathing

Regards,
Derek

Marvin,

Thank you for your comment. We do seem to have similar backgrounds. And yes, I do know what a Reiki Master is. I've studied a bit of Reiki myself, but never finished the series.

Charlotte is also a friend, and I'm quiet proud of the photos I've done of her.
